Songs Of The Ocean

Verse 1
I am an ocean
I am a song
I am a broken man
Try and prove me wrong

Chorus
I'm alive
I feel alive
Be alive again

You and I
Together up the skies
We'll fly again

Verse 2
My feet sinks deep
My heart's been cold
Even the open world
Still my story's untold

Bridge
I'm not waiting for the afterlife
Instead of a show
We're bringing fiction to life

I'm not gonna be defined by numbers and cash
Instead of a tone
Leave a tune that will last

Suits And Cases

Verse 1
Everybody's been successful
Everybody's making a name
Unashamed of their pretty little suits and cases
Profession is a measure of success
I'm not qualified cause

Chorus
You have your company
I have my guitar
You have your houses and cars
This song is all that I've got

Verse 2
I'm a little hopeful dreamer
I'm writing as honest as I can
I just think it's a little unfair
When you compare me
Is this how you measure success?
Profess

Bridge
We've got different dreams and faces
All of our dreams and races are starting now
I'm taking all the risks to be a writer
You'll be a CEO or Supervisor

I'm quite in doubt
Cause' my path is a dying field
Your path has a greener seed
Will I stop this now?
But I hope I'll find a light
At the end of this tunnel flight
I'm still far
Still far

Never Been Too Late

Verse
We are salt
Scattered on the seas
The love we bring
Will cross all boundaries

We are light
Placed on the mountain top
The truth we believe
Will set our blind eyes free

Chorus
It's never been too late
To make a change today
When we ought to love
Like the love that we live in

Let's believe in liberty
Like the love that set us free
We are moving now
Our mission's possible

Bridge
Love revealed
Across the galaxy
We can live
Forgiven and surrendered
Let this be
A song of a broken heart
Let it be
A day of a brand new start

Roots, Goals And Projects

Amazing things happened today. Of course, I woke up late, like 1 in the afternoon. Then I picked up the guitar and laptop just trying to make sense of what I am doing. Tried writing and reading for a few minutes. Had my brunch, after. Went to the Internet and wasted a couple hours watching videos of Conan O'Brien's Clueless Gamer which was absolutely humorous, novice-gaming review but still it was awesome. Took a bath and continue reading again. So, it was just a normal day.

What makes it atypical is TPO met at Jollibee Mabuhay and just had fun, eating and telling stories - a norm TPO talk. And I got the chance to eat a burger after so many frustrating weeks not having one. Then it got serious after a couple of hours. I just had to clear the air and I needed also someone to talk to, so I opened something to these guys. Hahaha.

It was just awesome that we all, as a band, breathe the same air. Setting our roots, goals and projects. But the coolest thing about these people is they always have my back. I already said that my studies were hanging in the balance and I am really frustrated currently but when I saw their support of my dangerous, deadly, career-dying venture in the music industry...I was relieved like a thorn was taken out from my back. I was uplifted.

So there it is! We'll be continuing our journey. The album "Hey, Sunrise" will be out this year, according to Harold and I am so excited.

Overflow - School Paper

Hey, friends! Great news. The Project Overflow was featured in ACLC's school paper and I was asked to give a short story about the band. I had a hard time putting it into words and definitely making it "short". Haha. Yeah, but still managed. So, for anyone's interest. Here's what I wrote.

The Project Overflow’s reckoning was just an immediate agreement by the band. To put it simply: it was like, “Hey! Let’s do this again and maybe do some projects.” It was fun and rather atypical because I never imagined in my life before that I get to play, sing and make music with these awesome people. Friendship, music and the love for God brought us together.

I’ve known Harold, the drummer, since high school. We were both learning to play instruments and gradually growing. When we were in college, we met also friends who had the same passion. I met Jireh Mae in Mindanao State University and we started having jam sessions. She introduced me his brother, Jeffrey while James was a classmate of Harold at ACLC. Back in 2009, Harold, James, Milo (James’ church mate and also my former schoolmate who plays for Marty’s Playhouse and Sim One) and I played in the “Youth Fishtival”, one of the Tuna fest celebrations at the Oval Gym. We named the band as “Overflow”. Then, awesome people were added to the family; Jeremy and Krismae. By 2012, we started to form and practice together with Jireh on vocals, Jeffrey on guitars, Harold on drums, James on guitars, Jeremy on keys and Krismae on bass. After we played at Mindanao State University’s 2013 intramurals one evening, we agreed to officially name the band “The Project Overflow”.

This year we have also independently released an EP called “Hey, Sunrise” with 7 tracks that’s being shared currently to friends, families and to the youth of Gensan and Davao. The songs were personally written and we set out to make it an album, hopefully. So far, the experience working together with the band, on stage, off stage, the music and the friendship is totally awesome. We look forward to what awaits in the future.

Why are we doing this? Because we love it. We enjoy making sound and songs like the fulfillment of a 5-year old kid who picked up the guitar or thumped the drums for the first time. For me, it is more than just fame, money and rock n’ roll. I wouldn’t trade it for anything because music is priceless.

If you get hold of a copy of the school paper...we'll. Just kind of keep it. Imagine it as a souvenir. Peace all!
Overflow.

PS. I want to thank my editor. You know who you are.
